²² Segub was the father of Jair. Jair ·controlled [held; owned; ruled] twenty-three cities in the ·country [land; territory] of Gilead. ²³ (But Geshur and Aram ·captured [took] the Towns of Jair, as well as Kenath and the ·small towns [villages] around it—sixty towns in all.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.

²⁴ After Hezron died ·in Caleb Ephrathah, his wife Abijah [or Caleb had sexual relations with Ephrath, his father Hezron’s wife, and she] ·had [^Lgave birth to] his son, named Ashhur. Ashhur became the father of Tekoa.
